PUERTO RICO INDEPENDENT BASEBALL LEAGUE
The Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League ("PRIBL") is a short-season professional baseball league based in Puerto Rico. PRIBL is the first professional independent league in the history of baseball in Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League is intended to serve as a developmental league for players seeking to make it to the Majors.
Being the only independent professional league that plays during the winter and spring, the quality of the players is very high, attracting many scouts from Major League Baseball and some other independent professional league teams looking for players.
The PRIBL has a mixture of lesser-known prospects looking for an opportunity to start a professional career, international players looking to play in the U.S. market, and affiliated Minor League Baseball players looking to continue their careers and prove that they still have what it takes.
Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League's roots go back several years, when Carlos Nuñez wanted to create an easily accessed off-season league. One of the reasons Mr. Nuñez created the Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League is to help minimize the failure of many professional baseball players. He believes playing only in the summer is not enough for a player's full development, especially when MLB teams seek consistency.
PRIBL MISSION: Our mission is to be a sustainable league unique in Puerto Rico that drives the integral development of baseball with excellence, ethics, and professionalism, having a positive effect on the international baseball community.
