MAYAGUEZ, PR – Conquistadores de Aguada manager Pascual Santiago has verbally agreed to return for his second season after leading the Conquistadores team to a Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League championship in the 2021 season.

The 55-year-old Santiago has not signed a contract but said Sunday he intends to be back next season. He's now dealing with his schedule with Prairie State College and his baseball team, and he will decide soon.

"I would love to go back to Puerto Rico and try to defend the championship," said Pascual Santiago, former manager of Conquistadores de Aguada. "I am a man of commitment, and I need to check my schedule since the league starts earlier than it normally was played."

President of PRIBL Carlos Nunez reiterated that there are no parameters on Santiago regarding his tenure. Essentially, he can manage for as long as he'd like.

"There was never a question about Pascual returning," Nunez said. We've made it clear: We want Pascual to continue to manage as long as he wants to, and it makes sense for him baseball-wise."

Santiago is one of the coaches of the Sioux Falls Canaries, a professional baseball team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that plays in the American Association.
