PRIBL Name the Director of Baseball Operations

SAN JUAN, PR  – The Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League announced today that former Major League Baseball (MLB) shortstop and current Manager of Puerto Rico Islanders (A professional summer baseball team), Luis “Tony” Rodríguez, has been named the Director of Baseball Operations. Rodríguez played for the Boston Red Sox. Part of his accomplishments includes being inducted into the University of Charleston Athletics Hall of Fame.

“We’re delighted that Tony is going to be our Director of Baseball Operations,” PRIBL’ Senior Vice President of Business Operations Jose Cruhigger said. “He is a terrific leader and person who is highly respected throughout the baseball community and brings a wealth of experience to our organization. Tony will be involved in all aspects of leadership.”

Rodríguez, 49, previously served as Assitant General Manager of the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Team from the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente). He’s also currently working for the MLB Development Program in Puerto Rico.

“It’s a great opportunity to grow within the sport that I love,” said Rodríguez. “I’m excited about the opportunity into this role, and I am sure I will contribute to the expansion and the vision of the Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League organization.”

Rodriguez's hiring will provide an additional connecting channel for those players looking to play in the Caribbean professional winter leagues.
